Sardinia’s Longevity and Happiness through Nordic Lens

Fanny Paananen and Patrick Tørring are traveling to Sardinia to uncover the island's secrets to longevity and happiness.

This project innovatively combines Sardinia’s traditional lifestyle practices with the health and cultural values of Denmark and Finland, using performance art as a medium for exploration. By merging artistic expression with health research, we create a script that reflects Sardinian and Nordic approaches to well-being, tackling global issues like obesity, mental health, and social media’s impact. While Denmark and Finland are often seen as the "happiest" countries, we critically examine whether their lifestyles truly reflect this, contrasting them with Sardinia’s natural, slower-paced way of life. Immersing ourselves in Sardinian culture provides deep insights that remote research cannot offer. Through writing, dance, and improvisational acting, we aim to embody these experiences, fostering future cross-cultural collaborations between the Mediterranean, Blue Zones, and Nordic countries, and inspiring a global rethinking of well-being through the arts.
