Exploring the Secrets of Longevity and Happiness: From Sardinia to the Stage

In November 2024, Fanny Paananen and Patrick Torring embarked on a transformative journey to Sardinia, seeking the island’s secrets of longevity and happiness. What we found was something even deeper—a realization that the true key to well-being isn’t just diet or lifestyle, but a lost connection to Mother Nature herself.

We live in a world that has prioritized productivity over presence, speed over slowness, and logic over intuition. But what if healing—our anxiety, our exhaustion, our sense of disconnection—wasn’t about finding something new, but remembering something ancient? In Sardinia, we met wise old women who embodied this forgotten wisdom. They lived in flow with the earth, embracing care, community, slowness, and the natural rhythms of life—feminine values that modern society has neglected for too long.

Our performance is not about Sardinia, but it is deeply inspired by what we uncovered there: the urgent need to reconnect with nature—both around us and within us. We have lost our relationship with the Earth, and with it, the very essence of what makes us human.

This piece is a fusion of body, mind, and spirit—a theatrical exploration of what it means to belong to the earth again. It is a call to remember, to reclaim, and to restore the balance between humanity and Mother Nature.

We are honored to bring this work to the stage at Valtimonteatteri in 2026, Finland’s only professional feminist theatre.

In 2025, we hope to interview more elderly people—to immerse ourselves in the wisdom of Mother Nature, feminine values and bring that knowledge to life on stage.

This journey is just beginning, and we invite you to be part of it.
